After opening in March 2003 at the Vineyard Theatre, Avenue Q became so popular that it was extended four times. In July 2003, it moved to the Golden Theatre, and in 2009 it moved to Broadway!

To date, the play has won the 2003 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding New Musical and received a nomination for the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical award.

Avenue Q tells the story of a Princeton grad whose small funds limit him to only one neighborhood: Avenue Q. He meets his quirky, but nice, neighbors and the group continues the play struggling to find dates, jobs and their purpose in life.
